Quality & Food Safety Policy

The quality and food safety policy of Baraka Mills is based on satisfying customers’ requirements by taking precautions to achieve “Safe Food Preparation and System” based on Prerequisite Programs on Food Safety (Food Manufacturing) – ISO TS 22002-1. Baraka Mills is committed to deliver in a timely manner flour and semolina products in compliance with quality, food safety and international standards such and the local authority standards represented by “Libnor”. In this way, the final product meets the specifications of local and international markets, and conform with Lebanese national laws, regulations and Standards. Baraka Mills attempts to continually improve its operations and to carry them with the highest level of performance using the newest technology to ensure consistency in products specifications in a way that complies with customers’ requirements and applicable national and international standards. Baraka Mills is interested in customers’ feedback concerning the quality and food safety of products delivered and their observations on the services provided by the company. Baraka Mills review the company’s objectives in marketing, sales, quality, food safety, human resources and discuss all the system topics in management reviews. Baraka Mills ensures proper internal and external communication to achieve satisfaction of all parties and compliance with implemented standards. Precautions are taken to avoid any type of food contamination (microbiological, physical, allergenic and chemical). Continuous monitoring of personal hygiene and sanitary practices are followed to ensure food safety. High quality raw materials are used for all food preparation. Potable water is used for all preparation and cleaning activities.

Quality Control

At Baraka Mills, we place food safety at the top of our supply chain process by implementing a risk alert system allowing us to closely monitor our wheat and flour throughout the entire production cycle. Testing and monitoring are a daily routine conducted in the company’s state of the art laboratory by an experienced team of quality control officers. Prior to entering the mill, all raw and packaging materials are checked and tested for conformity with the required specifications before they are used in production. Subsequently, the quality team, using clear written instructions, collects samples from all products of all production stages to ensure that all products conform to the relevant acceptance criteria. All criteria are tested and specified in the company’s inspection procedures. In addition to nutritional and physical analysis, Samples of all products are daily baked in the company’s laboratory to simulate the actual conditions of use by the customer. The results of these tests are employed in assessing the effectiveness of production and inspection.

Quality Assurance

The basis of our quality assurance is that all operations in Baraka mills are carried out according to reliable and tested methods. These operations are always planned to guarantee achieving the required results. For example, we prepare and test wheat mixtures before introducing them to production to ensure that the results are as intended. Moreover, to achieve our plans we should trust out testing results. That is why all testing and monitoring devices at Baraka mills are periodically calibrated to ensure the accuracy of readings at all times Cleanliness of our production plant is key point of our Quality Department. In addition to our daily cleaning operations, Baraka Mills plans and conducts decontamination operations, in accordance with the international cereal industry specifications, to prevent the hazards of insects and rodents. These operations are checked periodically to guarantee that a consistent level of hygiene is maintained at our facility. Baraka mills trained and independent quality team conducts internal audits on all departments against documented procedures to monitor and ensure their application. Internal audits aim to enhance the quality system and measure its compliance with the documented procedures. Furthermore, Baraka mills undergoes periodic audits from third parties to ensure the neutrality of results and the efficiency of all departments. And as a result, customers’ complaints, quality issues, audits reports, nonconformity records and suppliers performance are all studied and analyzed to determine and eliminate the root causes of quality problems.
